Watching Tricks

We ♥ Homeschool Tumbling!

It was the Valentine's party today, and that means it's a "watch day". Mommy takes her trusy point and shoot, daddy usually tags along, they do their "tricks", and then there's a party!

All 3 kids are in different classes...that'll make for an interesting recital!

Little Taxonomists

For Science this year we're doing Apologia's Botany. Today Owen and Ayva were little Taxonomists. Taxonomists classify things in nature. So our activity was to classify shoes. We had four kingdoms and we broke them down into phyla, classes and orders if we could.

Yes they are still in their pjs...that's the beauty of homeschooling!!

Monica & The Flute

Monica is in the beginners choir in Joy Singers (mommy is an assistant). Her teacher, Mrs. Snow, is going to be introducing the kids to a new instrument each week by playing music and having a mom, dad, or friend come into the class to play it and let the kids touch and see the instrument. The first week was the flute. We listened to some Beethoven music and then a mom (who is the other assistant for the class) played the flute for them, teaching them how to blow correctly over the blow hole. The kids were mesmerized (mommy so wishes she had her camera). Afterwards the kids colored a picture of the flute. Monica even drew in Mrs. Heather playing, so cute!

JOY SINGERS PERFORMANCE

These are videos and pictures are of the Owen and Ayva's 1st performance with Joy Singers, at the Wesley Acres retirement home, here in Des Moines. Very cute to watch the kids sing!! We love, love, love that this program is available to us! Monica has to wait another year, but she sings right along!
