K & G

K is for Kaatje and G is for Greta. They are our Minesota, homeschooling friends, grandaughters of Tom and Barb (members at our church-Barb watches us and Tom chases us). When K & G come down to Grandpa and Grandma's for weeks at a time we have to get in one 'playdate'. One time they were even drawing on Grandpa and Grandma's wall together, and the marks are still there! We thought we'd spare Grandpa and Grandma's walls for this visit...we went to a nice park.
K is 6 months older than Owen and G is 4 months older than Monica so Ayva's in the middle and she goes back and forth between the two. Owen had the girls caged up here.

Here are the 3 deep thinkers in thought. We don't know what they were talking about, but it seemed important.

And here are the 3 year old Q-Ties! They played so well together! Someday we'll make it to Anoka and play at their house!

Classic Night Time Snack

Right before the kids go to bed they get a night time "snack". Mother has been opposed to this from beginning, but Father has made the routine a tradition. It always has something to do with chocolate (see why Mother totally opposes?). Well, Ovaltine has been the recent night time snack, which Mother doesn't disaprove of quite as much. Can you read the label? It actually says "Good For You". Obviously you can't believe everything you read!

Memorial Day

We went to Jester Park for a picnic with other reformed churches in the area. It was a special family day, as Mondays always are. It was the perfect day! Nice and cool, and we left right before the rain started!
Little man didn't feel so hot. He even turned down a hot dog!
The girls and daddy always play 'get me' when they are at park.
So much fun of course!
The park was so beautiful! Maybe when the kids are older we'll hike around it.

"Take Me To The River"

After Owen's softball game we saw this little dock. It was such a nice night we decided to go check it out.

We'll be returning for more pics someday!

THE 3RD TIMES A CHARM

Softball- "take me out to 'lunch'"!

It should be "take me out to the ball game" right? Not for Owen. He's out to lunch 75% of the time at his games. But as you can see from the pics he's the cutes softball player that's out to lunch!
No down and ready here!

Highlights of the night were his 2 hits!!!

Reading and Fun!

Owen has always been a reluctant reader, but that isn't so anymore. Mommy bought him a Magic Tree House set and he doesn't want to put the thing down. He asks to read first thing in the morning! He's having so much fun. We decided to read a chapter and then he summarizes it and draws a picture (because drawing is his favorite!). Daddy and mommy are so proud of him. And Ayva's going to be right behind him, she's taking off with reading as well!

*****************************************
Holly and Carolyn gave the kids Connect Four and they absolutely LOVE it! Owen challenges everyone and suprisingly Ayva beats him all the time. As a family we think the cover is pretty funny! Doesn't it look like the boy just hit the girl in the eye, and they are laughing about it?

12 Stiches

This is what happens when little boys don't make it to the last bar on the monkey bars and fall and hit the landing with their chin:
This is what it looks like after the dr stiches it all up (4 internal and 8 external):
This is the tongue that he bites on his way down that actually hurts worse than the chin! Pictures provided because the camera was providentially in the car when it all happened!
